Top bet Amit heads local bidders in Women's World 9-Ball bash

Taking a cue from Dennis Orcullo’s successful campaign in the World 8-Ball Championship in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, the Philippines will send another batch of cue artists competing in the international circuit. This time, it will be the women’s turn to showcase their talent as they take part in the Amway Women’s World 9-Ball Open from March 6 to 13 at the Taimall Shopping Center in Taipei. Former world 10-ball champion Rubilen Amit will lead the Pinays’ campaign in this tournament that gathers the finest lady players in the world. Joining Amit, winner of the inaugural staging of the Women’s World Ten Ball Championship two years ago, are Iris Ranola, Marie Ann Basas, Floriza Andal and Zemonette Oryan. Amit made his mark in the international pool scene by placing runner-up to Xiao-Ting Pan of China in the Amway Women’s World 9-Ball Open. But the Filipina bounced back strong two years after, winning the Women’s World Ten Ball crown in 2009 over Liu Shin Mie of Chinese Taipei at the SM Skydome in Quezon City. - RCJ, Reuben Terradao, GMA News
