2 killed, cop wounded in Makati shooting

Two people, one of them a City Hall employee, were killed while a policeman was wounded in a shooting incident in Makati City Tuesday afternoon. Police shot dead the gunman in a shootout, even as a manhunt is ongoing for at least two of the suspect's companions, radio dzBB's Paulo Santos reported. The incident occurred about 2:20 p.m. along Victor Street in Pio del Pilar village in Makati City. An initial investigation showed that one of the fatalities, a male City Hall employee, was eating at an establishment along the street when the still-unidentified gunman approached and shot him, killing him on the spot. The gunman tried to flee and fired at pursuing policemen. He hit and wounded Police Officer 3 Julius Guerrero but other pursuing policemen managed to fatally shoot him, the report said. The gunman was described as between 20 to 25 years old, and wearing a white undershirt and black short pants. At least two of his companions managed to escape aboard a green Honda Wave-type motorcycle (ND-9477). Police are still determining the motive for the shooting. — RSJ, GMA News
