OWWA earmarks P100M for displaced OFWs

Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) displaced in strife-torn countries will receive financial assistance from a pool of P100 million that the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has allocated for such purpose. At the start, the OWWA will give OFWs coming from Libya priority to complement the assistance package the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NCRO) has been preparing for them. The NCRO package includes psycho-social counseling, skills training and upgrading, referral and placement for local and overseas employment, entrepreneurial and management training, and business loans. The business loans are being coordinated by Land Bank of the Philippines and Development Bank of the Philippines. Filipinos who wish to avail themselves of the financial assistance must submit proof of travel from the conflict-stricken countries, and their names must match the entry listed with Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Labor and Employment, or the OWWA. OFWs must also present their passport, travel documents, and two identification cards with pictures. — With Paterno Esmaquel II/VS, GMA News
