'Robocop' Orcullo back in PHL after winning World 8-Ball tilt

After giving Filipinos another reason to be proud when he won the World 8-Ball Pool Championship last weekend, Dennis “Robocop" Orcullo returned home to the Philippines Wednesday night. Orcullo arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a report on radio dzBB early Thursday. The native of Surigao del Sur had defeated Neils “The Terminator" Feijen of the Netherlands, 10-3, in the finals Saturday night (Philippine time) at the Fujairah Exhibition Center in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.

Before Saturday’s victory, Orcullo had won other billiards championships in his career, such as the World Pool League, World Pool Masters, Derby City Classic, and US Bar Table and Billiards Congress of America. With last Saturday’s victory, he pocketed the top prize of $40,000 (P1.738 million). He also joined the ranks of fellow Filipinos Efren “Bata" Reyes, Alex “The Lion" Pagulayan, Ronato “Volcano" Alcano and Rubilen “Bingkay" Amit. — RSJ, GMA News
