PNoy still undecided on what govt post to give Heidi Mendoza

President Benigno Aquino III has yet to decide on what position will be given to former state auditor and whistle-blower Heidi Mendoza. In an interview with reporters Thursday, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda welcomed Mendoza’s decision to rethink Aquino’s offer for her to re-join the government. “Wala pa (None yet)," Lacierda said, referring to the possible position that may be given to Mendoza. “We’re glad to know that Heidi Mendoza has evinced her interest to join government and it will certainly be an addition to our fight against corruption."

Lacierda said they have not sat down with Mendoza after the last meeting with Aquino last month, where the President offered Mendoza “several options" in his administration. “We will let you know kung ano ang magiging (whatever will be the) decision at kung ano ang magiging offer ng Pangulong Aquino kay Heidi Mendoza," he told reporters. Mendoza, during her meeting with Aquino, said she has to consider the wishes of her family before deciding on the matter. Mendoza had followed the money trail of transactions by former military comptroller Carlos F. Garcia, who is facing a P303-million plunder suit at the Sandiganbayan. She quit her job at the Asian Development Bank to prepare for her testimony against Garcia. She appeared at several congressional hearings on the alleged corruption in the military. Mendoza also hogged the headlines when she accused his former colleagues in the Commission on Audit of being “politicized." — Amita O. Legaspi/KBK, GMA News
