PHL is 2nd most amorous country on Google

Last Valentine's Day, Pinoys flooded Google with the second most number of love-related queries, according to the internet search giant on Thursday. Data released today shows that on February 14, 2011, Google received the second highest number of queries on love from the Philippines. In the Google Insights for Search on the keyword “love," the Philippines received a weighted rating of 96 — just four points away from the African country of Eritrea. A far third is Myanmar with a rating of 69, followed by Somalia, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Ghana, Uganda, and Swaziland. Google.com.ph data show that Filipinos scrambled the most to search the keyword “Valentine’s message" on Google. The next four keywords with the highest hits also indicate a search for killer lines:

  • “Valentine’s quotes"
  • “Valentine’s card"
  • “Love quotes Tagalog"
  • “Pick-up lines"
A large number of Filipinos preferred to express love more lyrically, searching the keywords “love songs" and “love poems." Others wanted to know more about “flowers," while others hit the keywords “broken-hearted quotes." Some simply went to Google to know “what is love." World leader in lyrics-searching Videoke-loving Filipinos also bested other countries on Google for the highest number of queries for song lyrics. The search engine rates the Philippines at 100, followed by the United States at a distant 46. Other countries in the top ten include Canada, Lebanon, Australia, Eritrea, Singapore, Nepal, Greece, and Croatia. The most-searched song in the Philippines is ‘Collide,’ followed by ‘Marry Me,’ ‘Forget You,’ ‘Marry You,’ ‘Grenade,’ ‘Breakeven,’ ‘Terrified,’ ‘Love Story,’ ‘Perfect Two,’ and ‘Teenage Dream.’ — TJD, GMA News
