3 more batches of OFWs arrive from Libya

At least three more batches of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) returned Saturday night from strife-torn Libya, radio dzBB reported Sunday. The report said three batches arrived aboard flights via Emirates, Royal Brunei, and Etihad Airways. Some four more chartered flights carrying 180 Filipinos from Libya were due to arrive Sunday, the report added. The government is continuing its efforts to bring home OFWs from the South African country due to the violence there. Meanwhile, the report said at least 500 OFWs who returned from Libya have availed of the P10,000 financial assistance of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration. The Department of Labor and Employment, for its part, said the returning OFWs can avail of job opportunities abroad or livelihood opportunities at home. — JE, GMA News
