Live-in couple injured in grenade blast


A man and his live-in partner were seriously wounded in a grenade explosion that damaged their house in Makati City before dawn Sunday. Police teams are looking at whether the MK-2 fragmentation grenade accidentally exploded or if its safety lever was pulled on purpose, according to a report by radio dzBB’s Mao dela Cruz. “Mukhang (Looks like) fragmentation hand grenade," a member of the Makati police’s Explosives and Ordnance Division said in a separate interview on radio dzRH. The victims, initially identified as Rolando Balledo and Lady Lyn Rodrigo, were rushed to the Ospital ng Makati for treatment. The incident happened at 115 9th Avenue in East Rembo. In a separate report on dzRH, Rodrigo’s mother, Rosalinda, said she saw at least two youths running away from the area before the explosion occurred. — VS, GMA News
