Raymundo back in action on March 13 vs Alaska

Kerby Raymundo, B-Meg Derby Ace’s team captain, is expected to suit up for the Llamados’ game against Alaska next Sunday, March 13, at the Big Dome. This was confirmed by none other than Raymundo himself to GMA News. “The doctors have given me the green light to play. I will definitely play on Sunday against Alaska," said Raymundo moments after his team defeated the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings, 96-89, on Sunday at the Big Dome. “Whether I will play more minutes or not depends on Coach Jorge (Gallent)," he added. The 6-foot-6 Raymundo was sidelined by a hip injury for several months. He saw action in only 32 of the 64 games played by the Llamados last season and suited up for the squad in only two games last conference. “It’s tough to recover from this injury. I suffered a hip injury that causes pain in the groin area," said Raymundo. He added that while in the United States, he had a rare chance to play against some NBA players who were also recuperating from their injuries. “Yung trainer nila (NBA players) and trainer namin discussed whether we can play 2-on-2 games, and pumayag naman," recounted the two-time FIBA Asia Championship veteran. “But that was the only scrimmage I had." B-Meg Derby Ace coach Jorge Gallent said Raymundo will return to practice on Tuesday. “We want to give him a rest, but he needs to join us on Tuesday because he still lacks scrimmage," said Gallent. Raymundo added that he’s eager to get back into action and wants to help his team’s campaign in this short, import-laced conference. “Medyo off pa yung timing ko, pero nakakatakbo na ako ng maayos. Gusto kong makatulong, particularly now na marami kaming injured players," said Raymundo, referring to last year’s Rookie of the Year awardee Rico Maierhofer, veteran slotman Raffi Reavis, and Don Allado, who were all sidelined by injuries. - KY, Rey Joble, GMA News
