Report: Davao transport groups planning strike over high oil prices

Transport groups in Davao City are preparing to hold a transport strike on March 22 to protest against the continued rise in prices of fuel. A report of radio dzBB's Davao affiliate said the transport groups are having a hard time coping with the price adjustments. The report said the groups want the government to junk the oil deregulation law and remove the value-added tax (VAT) on oil products. Fuel products have gone up since last month due to the unrest in the Middle East and North Africa. In the Philippines, Energy officials assured the public the supply of fuel will remain stable even though prices are going up. – VVP, GMA News
