Police in Rizal province have started a manhunt for at least three inmates who bolted the municipal jail in Tanay Thursday, the second time a jailbreak occurred in the province in two months. A report on radio dzBB Friday said Rizal police chief Senior Superintendent Manuel Prieto ordered his men to go after the three, who face charges of rape, robbery and theft. Now being hunted are Roger Orillo, who faces charges of rape; Ricky Buenaventura, who faces theft charges; and Gilbert Rivera, who faces robbery charges, the same report said. An initial investigation showed the three escaped between 2 and 3 a.m. Thursday after they sawed off the iron grill on the jail's roof. The escape was discovered only later in the day during a head count of inmates.

Last Feb. 28, five detainees bolted from the Teresa, Rizal district jail but one of them was killed while three others were recaptured. Killed was Mario Cruz, while still at large is one Jomer Cruz. The three recaptured inmates were identified as Gary Borja, Reynaldo Tampepe, and Norman Pollarca. The Teresa jail warden and two guards on duty were relieved from their posts. — RSJ, GMA News
