'Hurricane' Julaton to fight in the Philippines

If plans push through, Ana "The Hurricane" Julaton's next fight will be held in the Philippines This was according to Angelo Reyes, the advisor and agent of the newly-crowned world super bantamweight champion, who said that their camp is working on a deal with Julaton's promoter, Allen Tremblay, to stage her first title defense in her home country. "We requested that the next fight be in the Philippines. We are still working on the details," said Reyes. Team Julaton is looking at a May fight in Julaton’s hometown of Pangasinan. Cebu and Manila are among the alternative sites where the fight may be held. If negotiations fail, the Filipina fighter will instead be fighting in Mexico, which the Julaton camp said it would not mind. Reyes still has to divulge details on who could be her next opponent, but hinted that it will be one of the top three fighters in her division. "We really don't know about the details because Allen is the one negotiating, but that is what she is insisting on. But we are ready, wherever the fight will be," Reyes said. The 30-year-old Julaton is fresh from her unanimous decision win over Franchesca Alcanter to claim the World Boxing Organization (WBO) female super bantamweight title. "I'm very excited because it’s a dream of mine to fight here in the Philippines. Hopefully, it works out fine," Julaton said. She added that they plan to have two more fights this year, with one of those also to be held here —possibly at the Araneta Coliseum. Reyes said that their camp will start training in Baguio City once the fight details have been ironed out. - Reuben Terrado, JVP, KY, GMA News
