A magnitude-2.8 quake rocked Mindoro in Southern Luzon Sunday evening, but there was no initial report of damage or casualty. The Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was recorded at 6:09 p.m. and was tectonic in origin. In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the epicenter was 60 km, northwest of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro. It did not immediately cite areas where the quake was felt. Earlier Sunday, a magnitude-3.2 quake rocked Northern Samar in Eastern Visayas. The quake was recorded at 7:12 a.m., with the epicenter at 46 km southeast of Catarman, Northern Samar.
