2 pastors, 3 followers survive 3-day ordeal at sea

Two pastors and three of their followers survived a three-day ordeal at sea between Bohol and Cebu in Central Visayas, before they were rescued over the weekend. A report by radio dzBB's Cebu affiliate said the five were aboard their church's pumpboat when they encountered big waves that caused their vessel to capsize Friday. Rescued by the crew of a passing barge were Baptist Church pastors Joval Galera and Julius Campos; and their members Joseph Benodo, Cresente Lapas, and Jun Gabito. The five said they had come from a religious activity in Bohol and were returning to Cebu when they encountered big waves off San Fernando in Cebu. They said they clung to the vessel until they were rescued Sunday. Some of the rescued passengers said they tried to call the attention of passing vessels but were ignored. — RSJ, GMA News
