3 cops hurt in Palawan ambush — police

Three policemen were wounded in an ambush in Palawan province before noon Monday, a police official said. Investigators have yet to identify the group behind the ambush, which occurred at about 10:45 a.m. at Sitio Cabagan in Barangay Bagumbayan in Taytay town, according to Chief Superintendent Artemio Hicban, director of MIMAROPA police. Hurt in the incident were PO3 Emily Valdez, PO2 Bechie Saliente, and PO3 Rufino Marquez. A radio dzBB report by its Palawan affiliate said Valdez was hit in the chest while Sariente was hit in the ear and Marquez in the back. “They were evacuated to Puerto Princesa city for medical treatment," Hicban said.
