Embassy identifies 31 missing Pinoys in quake-hit Japan


The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo has released the names of 31 Filipinos reported missing following the magnitude-8.9 quake and the devastating that hit Japan last Friday. They are as follows: 1. May we also request those who may have information on these individuals to let the Embassy know of their situation?" the Embassy said in a statement. The concerned Filipinos, or those who may have information about their condition, are advised to call the Embassy’s 24-hour hotline numbers (03)5562-1570, (03)5562-1577 and (03)5562-1590, or to send an email to emergency@philembassy.net. Advocacy group Migrante International earlier identified 24 from the Embassy’s list as missing as of 3 p.m. Monday. According to Migrante, they received the information from reports coming in through the group’s hotline numbers, as well from those coming from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). ICRC had earlier set up a website to help missing relatives reestablish contact with their loved ones.
