Two suspected robbers killed in QC shootout

At least two of four suspected robbers were killed in a shootout with police after victimizing a woman in Quezon City Monday night. Radio dzBB reported Tuesday the shootout occurred near the corner of Panay Avenue and Dr. G. Garcia Street around 10 p.m. Police recovered a grenade and a cal-.38 revolver from the two slain victims, even as they continue to track down the two others who fled on a separate motorcycle. A separate report on GMA's News To Go quoted Quezon City police director Chief Superintendent Benjardi Mantele as saying the grenade recovered from the slain suspects was no dud.
"Live yan, it is capable of exploding kung ang process ay mabubuo (It's live. It's capable of exploding if the pin is pulled)," he said. An initial investigation showed the four had victimized a woman near a drugstore, snatching her bag and about to make a clean getaway when they encountered a passing police patrol team. — LBG, GMA News
