Pinoys in Japan told: Narita Airport crowded, take other exit means

With many Filipinos seeking to flee quake- and tsunami-stricken Japan, the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo advised them to take alternative means of transportation other than Narita Airport. In a notice on its website Wednesday, the Embassy said Narita Airport has become crowded with people various nationalities who wished to leave the country. "Alalahanin po lamang na ang Narita Airport ay punung-puno na ng mga taong nais din lumikas palabas ng bansa, kaya’t maaaari ninyong subukan ang iba pang mga paliparan o daungan ng bapor (Remember that Narita Airport is full of people who wish to leave Japan. Please try other air and seaports for boats)," it said. Many Filipinos have expressed willingness to leave Japan after a magnitude-9 quake and a 10-meter tsunami devastated some areas there. Japan also faces a potential radiation threat from a nuclear power plant rocked by explosions and hit by a fire early Wednesday. The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo has allowed its dependents and non-essential personnel to leave Japan. An embassy team is now devastated Sendai City to help Filipinos wanting to leave the area go to Tokyo to get a flight home. However, the closure of the main highway as of Wednesday morning had kept the Philippine team from leaving. — LBG, GMA News
