2010 Bar topnotcher: I didn't expect it

Cesareo Antonio S. Singzon Jr., who graduated valedictorian from the Ateneo Law School, did not expect to top the 2010 Bar examinations. The Supreme Court on Thursday afternoon announced that only 982 out of 4,847 examinees passed the exams, a passing rate of 20.26 percent, the second lowest in a decade. Last year’s Bar examinations were marred by a grenade-throwing incident that injured some 50 people and was blamed on warring fraternities. In a phone interview, Singzon said he did not expect to top the Bar exams even if he was valedictorian. “Honestly, I did not expect it. They said I was number one in Ateneo, so I can make it as number one here. I didn’t expect it because it’s very difficult, especially the Remedial Law part," Singzon said. Asked what his plans now after passing arguably the most difficult of professional licensure exams, Singzon said he plans to study abroad to earn his Master of Laws degree. He said he made a lot of sacrifices so he can pass the Bar. “I knew in the end, eventually, my sacrifices paid off." Top 10 The others who made it to the Top 10 are: 2. Filemon Ray L.
