Govt to convince Pinoys still in Libya to come home to PHL

The Philippine government will convince Filipinos still in Libya to leave that country after the United Nations authorized military action to curb Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. At a press briefing in Malacañang on Friday, deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said only 10 percent of the 26,000 Filipinos in Libya still remain in that country. “We have managed to evacuate iyong 90% of our OFWs in Libya. Iyong 10% po kasi for reasons of their own choose to stay in Libya. So, again we will have to do a little bit of convincing para po mailikas po sila," she said. Most of those who chose to stay were those working in hospitals. “But again, kung hindi po sila talaga papayag we will have to let them know what the situation is, what the dangers are and hopefully pumayag din naman po silang mailikas na," said Valte. Gaddafi earlier threatened to storm Benghazi. He also warned that only those who would lay down their arms would be spared vengeance. –VVP, GMA News
