11 more Pinoy seafarers arrive from Japan

At least 11 Filipino seafarers who were rescued from the March 11 tsunami in Japan arrived home Friday night, with some of them recalling their harrowing experience. The latest batch of seafarers arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on a Japan Air Lines (JL-745) at 10:30 p.m., radio dzBB reported Saturday morning. It quoted one of the seafarers, Albert Aviola, as saying they were scared when waves from the tsunami tossed their vessel around off Fukushima, as if it was a paper boat. He said they were eventually rescued and brought to a safe place before being brought home to the Philippines. Last Wednesday, the first batch of 20 rescued seafarers arrived home from Japan. On Friday, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration head Carmelita Dimzon said a second batch of Filipino seafarers rescued from Japan arrived home as well. — LBG, GMA News
