Bishop sends Facebook 'invites' for anti-RH rally

A senior Manila bishop has taken to the social networking site Facebook to drum up support for a rally against the controversial Reproductive Health bill in Manila on March 25. Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo urged Filipino Catholics to "march, pray and rally for life" in a note he posted on March 15 on his Facebook wall. "This mass demonstration of conviction and faith has also been endorsed by multiple sectors as a call for unity to stand against the societal iniquities that endanger the dignity and sanctity of life. In particular, the march and rally will be the prolifers’ grandstanding of opposing force against the passage of the Reproductive Health Bill," Pabillo said in his note. He explained that this stemmed from the "clarion call to defend life and the family" made by Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales last March 14. Pabillo said the interfaith rally and mass will be held at 4pm of March 25, the Feast of the Annunciation and the Day of the Unborn. The mass action will be held at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila. "We encourage everyone from all ages, social classes, and religions to stand up for life via this event. Come up with some eye-catching banners and slogans for the rally. Bring candles during the prayer sessions," Pabillo said. The Catholic Church has been vocal against the RH bill as it favors only natural family planning methods. — TJD, GMA News
