4 dead in Negros road accident

Four people were killed after a 10-wheeler truck collided with a van along the national highway in Negros Occidental on Saturday, a police report said Sunday. The victims were on their way to Kabankalan City when the Suzuki Multicab van they were riding took the lane of the approaching truck, leading the two vehicles to collide head-on along the portion of the national road in Barangay 9 at 3:30 p.m., Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) said. The fatalities were identified as Romeo Arros, the driver; and passengers Carolina Arros, Kahrel Arros and Merlinda Castro. The four died of multiple injuries in the head and other parts of the body. Espina said the driver of the 10-wheeler truck surrendered to Negros Occidental police after the incident. Local police officials are preparing charges against the driver, whom Espina did not identify. - Andreo Calonzo/KBK, GMA News
