MRT-3 stalls again, passengers forced to walk on elevated tracks

For the second time in two months, the passengers taking the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) were inconvenienced after an MRT-3 coach stalled in Quezon City on Monday morning. A southbound (Taft Avenue-bound) MRT-3 coach stalled as it was approaching the GMA-Kamuning station from the Quezon Avenue station, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported. "Technical problem daw ang sabi (We were told it was a technical problem)," said a passenger who was forced to get off the train and walk on the elevated railroad tracks. MRT guards and personnel refused to comment on what happened, the report said. MRT personnel reportedly assisted the passengers in getting off the affected coach. The passengers' queue at the GMA-Kamuning station was said to have stretched to Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA). On January 20, passengers of the MRT-3 were also forced to walk on elevated railroad tracks when one of the trains suddenly stopped between the Cubao and Santolan stations. Southbound commuters had to walk on tracks back to the Cubao Station in Quezon City. – VVP, GMA News
