2 killed in Pasay City fire

A mother of a Pasay City police officer and her grandchild were killed in a fire that hit a neighborhood in Pasay City Wednesday afternoon. Adela Miranda, 64; and grandchild Prince, 9, died of suffocation during a fire at Lucban Street Barangay 40, Zone 5 in Pasay City, according to a report on dzBB radio early Thursday. Firefighters had a hard time getting into the scene because of the narrow streets in the area. The fire started at 3 p.m. and reached the third alarm. Several establishments were also affected in the fire, which arson investigators suspect stemmed from an electrical short circuit. Firefighters placed the fire under control past 4 p.m. A separate report on dzRH radio said the fire started on the second floor of the house occupied by the Miranda family. — LBG, GMA News
