MMDA seeks understanding for traffic jams due to road repair

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority sought understanding from motorists Friday for the traffic jam caused by reblocking work along portions of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA). MMDA spokesman lawyer Ives Gonzalez said the reblocking work affects three areas along the southbound part of EDSA, from the Kamuning district in Quezon City to the area in front of Philippine National Police headquarters. "Every Thursday night nagre-reblocking sila, dahil tatlong araw bago patuyuin ang semento ... Ang curing o pagtigas ng semento, aabutin ng Friday hanggang Sunday (Every Thursday night the Department of Public Works and Highways does reblocking on portions of EDSA, because it takes three days for the cement to cure)," Gonzalez said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said that for this weekend, the reblocking operations will be conducted across Camp Crame's Gate 1; North Road; and P. Garcia Street near the Kamuning flyover. "Ang tatlong yan medyo sumisikip ang trapik dahil umiiwas ang motorista sa area ng reblocking. Ang tailend paglampas ng Quezon Avenue flyover (Those three areas are causing traffic jams because motorists are trying to avoid them. The tailend reached the Quezon Avenue flyover)," he said. In the meantime, he said motorists can take alternate routes, including interior roads in Quezon and San Juan Cities, and C-5 or the Mabuhay Lanes. — RSJ, GMA News
