DFA: No Pinoys hurt in Myanmar quake

No Filipino was initially reported among the casualties in a magnitude-6.8 quake that struck Myanmar, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Friday. This was the report of Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Helen Barber to the DFA in Manila, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported. Barber said the embassy had been communicating with Filipino community leaders in Myanmar since the quake hit. There are some 340 Filipinos in Myanmar, the dzBB report quoted the DFA as saying. At least 50 people had been reported killed after the quake hit northeastern Myanmar near its border with Thailand. — LBG, GMA News
