Slain broadcaster 'Len' Sumera to be buried Sunday

Slain broadcaster Marlina "Len" Sumera will be buried at 10 a.m. Sunday, following a Mass at Saint Peter’s Chapel in Quezon City where relatives and colleagues were on hand to pay their last respects to the 9th female journalist killed since 1986. Sumera was shot dead last Thursday on her way to the dzME studios in Caloocan City to co-host a public service program. Among those who attended the mass were Sumera's co-anchor Ed Sarto and fellow broadcasters, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported Sunday. Over the weekend, Malacañang said the Aquino administration is making moves to end the impunity behind media killings. Presidential Communications Operations Office head Herminio Coloma Jr., however, said that the media must do its part to ensure that practitioners act “responsibly" by not provoking unnecessarily in the process of doing their job as journalists. — VS, GMA News
