Phivolcs: Quakes rock Negros, Agusan


At least two quakes rocked the Central Visayas and Mindanao Sunday, but there was no initial report of damage or casualty. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the first quake was recorded at 11:18 a.m. in Central Visayas and was tectonic in origin. In its bulletin, it said the epicenter was 89 km northwest of Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental. A second quake measuring magnitude 2.6 was recorded at 3:22 p.m. in the Agusan del Sur area in Mindanao. Phivolcs said the epicenter was 24 km southwest of Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. However, Phivolcs did not immediately cite specific areas where the quakes was felt. No damage or aftershock was expected from the quakes, Phivolcs added. - KBK, GMA News
