2 killed in scuffle with cop over firearm in Manila

Two suspected troublemakers were killed while trying to wrestle for the service firearm of a policeman inside a police station in Manila before dawn Tuesday. The incident occurred while the two were being booked and were about to be brought to a hospital for a medical checkup, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported Tuesday. Killed was Jeffrey Camposano, 19, after being shot in the head. The gunshot blew his brains out, the report said. Camposano's companion, initially identified as Rosel Tactacin, 18, was rushed to the Sta. Ana Hospital for treatment but died while undergoing treatment. The incident occurred inside the Manila Police District Station 6 in Sta. Ana. An initial investigation showed police arrested the two for allegedly making trouble along Tejeron Street in Manila's Sta. Ana district. The two had been arrested for attempted murder, illegal drugs, and possession of illegal improvised weapon. While the two were being booked, they allegedly wrested the service firearm of PO1 Jose Jesus Martires, but a fellow policeman, PO3 Erwin Salanio, shot the two with his own 9-mm service firearm. Relatives of the two suspects questioned the police for shooting the two, the dzBB report said. — LBG, GMA News
