Another Pinoy on China's death row over drug case

Following the execution of three Filipino drug mules in China Wednesday, Philippine officials there are keeping tabs on the case of another Filipino facing execution for a similar case. While Philippine consul Noel Novicio declined to identify the convict, he said the Filipino was sentenced to death without reprieve. "Pagkatapos ng tatlo nating kababayan, malungkot pero may isa pa tayong kababayan na may death penalty without reprieve (After the execution of our three compatriots, it is sad that at least one more Filipino faces the death penalty)," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. "Tututukan natin ang kanyang kaso (We will keep tabs on that case)," he added. Also, he said there are 74 more Filipinos facing death for drug-related cases in China. Earlier on Wednesday, China executed drug mules Sally Villanueva, Ramon Credo and Elizabeth Batain, after briefly delaying the implementation of their sentences. The executions took place despite last-minute efforts by the Philippine government to spare the three from lethal injection. Novicio noted the cases of the three Filipinos executed Wednesday were without reprieve. — LBG, GMA News
