2 suspected robbers killed in Manila 'shootout'

Two suspected robbers were shot dead in an alleged encounter with police in Manila's downtown district before dawn Thursday. The encounter occurred near a mall branch at the corner of Yuseco and Herrera Streets in Manila, radio dzBB's Rodil Vega reported. Police initially identified the slain suspects as "Benjie" and Ian Merong. Recovered from the two were two cal-.38 revolvers, the report said.
