Police: 2 nabbed in Dumaguete for harassing lawmaker

Two people were arrested in Dumaguete City on Thursday for allegedly attempting to defraud money from Bacolod City Rep. Anthony Golez, a police official said. The operation to arrest Raymund Sumbrero, 33, and Marilyn Siarez, 23, stemmed from a March 25 complaint by Golez regarding an alleged plot to assassinate him, said Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. in a text message to reporters. “It was eventually determined that it was actually a scheme to defraud money from him," Cruz said without elaborating. Sumbrero and Siarez were arrested at 10:20 a.m. in Dumaguete City. “After further determining that the perpetrators may be operating from Dumaguete City, police were brought into the picture," Cruz said.
