Police: 2 nabbed in Dumaguete for harassing lawmaker

Two people were arrested in Dumaguete City on Thursday for allegedly attempting to defraud money from Bacolod City Rep. Anthony Golez, a police official said. The operation to arrest Raymund Sumbrero, 33, and Marilyn Siarez, 23, stemmed from a March 25 complaint by Golez regarding an alleged plot to assassinate him, said Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. in a text message to reporters. “It was eventually determined that it was actually a scheme to defraud money from him," Cruz said without elaborating. Sumbrero and Siarez were arrested at 10:20 a.m. in Dumaguete City. “After further determining that the perpetrators may be operating from Dumaguete City, police were brought into the picture," Cruz said. Seized from the two were unlicensed firearms and amphetamine hydrochloride (shabu). — KBK, GMA News
