Report: PNP draws up list of suspects in radio anchor's killing

The Philippine National Police has drawn up a list of suspects in the killing of a radio anchor Marlina "Len" Sumera last week. However, radio dzME reported Thursday afternoon PNP chief Director General Raul Bacalzo declined to make the list public while follow-up operations are being conducted. While a land conflict appears to be the most likely motive behind the killing, Bacalzo said they are not discounting other possible motives. Unidentified men gunned down Sumera near her Malabon City house as she was preparing to go to dzME studios for her public service program. Earlier this week, the police released sketches of at least three suspected killers of Sumera. The reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects also went up to P450,000. The images of the three suspects were uploaded on dzME's home page. NPD Director Chief Superintendent Edgardo Ladao described the gunman as 20 to 21 years old, 5'2" to 5'3" tall, medium-built, brown-skinned, and wearing a white T-shirt, cargo pants, and toting a shoulder bag. The lookout was described as 20 to 21 years old, about 5'2" to 5'3" tall, medium-built, and wearing a yellow T-shirt and cargo pants, and toting a black backpack. A third suspect was described as 45 to 50 years old, 5’2" to 5’3" tall, medium-built and wearing a white jacket and faded denim pants. However, the dzME report said the NPD is still gathering leads on a third lookout, a woman who supposedly told the gunman that Sumera was in the area. Ladao also said their initial investigation showed a 9-mm pistol may have been used in killing Sumera because of the gunshot wound in the nape. – VVP, GMA News
