Phivolcs: Quake rocks Nueva Ecija, Davao Oriental


At least two quakes rocked Nueva Ecija in Northern Luzon and Davao Oriental in Mindanao on Saturday afternoon, but state seismologists recorded no casualties or damage. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the first quake was measured at magnitude 2.9 and was recorded at 1:42 p.m. In its bulletin, Phivolcs said that the epicenter was 10 km northeast of San Jose City in Nueva Ecija. A second quake measuring magnitude 4.2 was recorded at 2:43 p.m., with the epicenter traced to 181 km northeast of Mati, Davao Oriental. However, Phivolcs did not immediately cite specific areas where the quakes were felt. It added no damage or aftershock was expected from the two quakes. — AY/TJD, GMA News
