Binay: PHL trying to get OFWs off KSA death row

Vice President Jejomar Binay assured Filipinos in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that the Philippine government is doing something behind the scene on behalf of eight Filipinos on death row in the Middle Eastern country. Binay met with Filipino community leaders at the Philippine embassy in Riyadh, where he told them that there is something going on, like talks with the Saudi authorities, news site Arab News reported Sunday. "We’re doing something, but as of now it’s something outside of what the public must know," he the Vice President said. (http://arabnews.com/saudiarabia/article340949.ece). On Friday, militant migrants group Migrante Middle East urged Binay to try to convince the Saudi government to show mercy so that the overseas Filipino workers on death row would not be executed. The Philippine is slowly moving on from the March 30 execution of three OFWs — Sally Ordinario-Villanueva, 32; Ramon Credo, 42; and Elizabeth Batain, 28 — who were convicted of drug trafficking in China. — VS, GMA News
