P5-M cocaine brick seized, but suspect eludes arrest

Authorities seized a one-kilo brick of cocaine worth P5 million during a sting operation in Cebu City Monday afternoon, but the suspected seller managed to elude arrest. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Naval Forces Central seized the cocaine at a house at A. Lopez Street in Labangon village, radio dzBB’s Cebu affiliate reported Tuesday. But the suspected drug dealer, initially identified only as Yugan, managed to elude arrest after he sensed the transaction was a buy-bust operation. Yugan also left behind some P200,000 cash used for the transaction, the report said. Monday afternoon’s operation came a week after the PDEA’s Central Visayas unit seized another brick of cocaine in another buy-bust operation in Mandaue City in Cebu. — LBG, GMA News
