WikiLeaks now has a porn counterpart

Talk about Rule 34. The adult industry now has its own version of a tell-all site on the Internet, but there's nothing diplomatic about it. PornWikiLeaks.com features a database of porn stars, including their real names and various details they don't necessarily want the public to know. PornWikiLieaks has promised to divulge information on porn stars' lives outside of porn, including the names of their family and friends; schools attended; and even their biography before entering porn. As of April 5, the site claims to have over 23,000 articles in English. While many of the site's pages are still under construction, its forum page, which includes adult industry news and leaked model releases, is already up and running. PornWikiLeaks even has at least two mirror sites: www.pornwikileaks.net and www.pornwikileaks.org. A story on tech site CNET said that PornWikiLeaks has been up since December and that some of its exposés may have been sourced from AIM Medical Associates, a company that tests porn stars for sexually transmitted diseases. On the other hand, a story on UK-based news site The Independent said that PornWikiLeaks has enraged the adult entertainment industry by giving away the real names of erotic stars. The Independent said that information published by PornWikileaks was first uploaded several weeks ago but only recently began being widely disseminated after its existence was highlighted by Mike South, a blogger who covers adult entertainment issues. "Your information is now in the hands of people who shouldn't have it," the report quoted him as saying. The report added that the site has been a source of worry for porn stars who have neglected to inform friends or family members of their profession, and for former adult actors who may have quit the trade several years ago to pursue mainstream employment. Also, it said that the site appeared to be registered in the Netherlands, "apparently by a disgruntled member of the 'porn press,' and describes the purpose of its existence as being a 'media organisation' devoted to making the industry more transparent." — TJD, GMA News
