Even before launch, Bacolod PNP's facebook page scores vs crime

Even before it was formally launched this week, the Facebook page of the Bacolod City police already helped arrest a wanted criminal there. Bacolod City police chief Senior Superintendent Ricardo de la Paz said a concerned citizen tipped them off to Henry Gumban, a wanted man in the city, with Facebook's help. Gumban, who was accused of killing his uncle in 2009, was arrested Sunday - a day before the Facebook page was officially launched, news site Visayan Daily Star reported Tuesday. At Monday's launch of the Facebook page, de la Paz urged the public to access their fan page by typing "BacolodCityPoliceOffice" after logging on to Facebook. The page contains photos of wanted personalities linked to crimes such as rape, robbery, drugs, homicide and murder. Among the photos posted on the Facebook page was that of Barangay Kapitan Ramon (Silay City) massacre suspect Noel Ayalin, who is still at large. The Facebook page also features the recent activities of the city policemen. — TJD, GMA News
