Fire breaks out in Makati hardware store

(Updated 10:30 p.m.) A fire broke out in a hardware store Thursday night in the same village where a fuel leak was reported last year. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said in its Twitter account that as of 6:25 p.m. Thursday, alarm level 2 has been raised over the hardware store fire in Barangay Bangkal, Makati City. Last year, a fuel pipeline owned by First Philippine Industrial Corp. leaked near the West Tower Condominium located in the same area. In an interview with GMA News, Makati Mayor Erwin “Junjun" Binay said the hardware was far from the condominium. “Hindi tayo kinakabahan dahil malayo naman 'yung sunog sa area kung saan nagkaroon ng gas leak," Binay said. Superintendent Samuel Tadeo, Makati fire marshal, said the fire was extinguished two hours after it broke out. — Andreo Calonzo/JE/PE/VS, GMA News
