60 women rescued from 'girlie joints' in Bulacan

At least 60 women, some of them minors, were rescued in a series of raids on suspected girlie joints in Meycauayan City in Bulacan province before dawn Saturday. Police and social welfare workers said at least three of the rescued girls were minors, radio dzBB's Roland Bola reported. The raids stemmed from tips that the beer houses, nightclubs, and even massage parlors there were used as fronts for prostitution. An initial investigation showed at least three of the girls were minors. Many of the girls had no work documents such as health permits, the report said. Also, an inspection of the joints showed some of them had no business permits. — LBG, GMA News
