Lit cigarette causes fire in QC; no casualty

Smokers be warned: improper disposal of cigarettes can result in fires. Such was the case in the fire that hit the sales and marketing office of Top Rank Realty Marketing Corp. in Capitol Hills in Quezon City on Monday morning. In a statement, the firm said a small portion of its sales and marketing office “caught fire due to an improperly disposed cigarette" at around 2 a.m. on April 11, 2011. “The fire started from the outdoor water feature located in the landscape garden beside the structure," it said without naming the culprit. Fortunately, for the smoker and the company, the fire did not cause much damage as it was contained in less than 30 minutes. No casualty was also reported. “We are very thankful to the fire department authorities of Quezon City who came as soon as possible to help control the fire," the company said. It said the management will pursue the restoration of the damaged area immediately and will continue to coordinate with all involved agencies. - KBK, GMA News
