2 suspects in trader's abduction nabbed in Maguindanao

Two suspects in the kidnapping of Filipino-Chinese businesswoman Jinky Yap in Cotabato City was arrested in Maguindanao last week, a military official said Tuesday. Citing belated reports, Col. Prudencio Asto, public affairs chief of the Army's 6th Infantry Division, said combined police and military elements arrested Abdul Kadil Jacaria alias Tru and Bensar Guiamalon in Kabuntalan town last Saturday, a day before Yap was freed by her abductors. Asto said Guiamalon was the son-in-law of Dino Esmael alias Kumander Mino, the alleged leader of the group that kidnapped Yap last April 1 while she was manning her ALY General Merchandise Store along Sinsuat Avenue in Cotabato City. “Apprehended personalities were identified by civilian populace in the area as members of [kidnap-for-ransom group] under Dino Esmael a.k.a Kumander Mino," said Asto. Seized from the suspects were two motorized pump boats owned by one Magdu and one Romilis. Asto said both were believed to be members of Mino’s criminal group. Asto said a hand grenade, a caliber 45 pistol, and a magazine loaded with six rounds of ammunition were seized from Guiamalon. “The K9 also scoured the house of a.k.a Tru and it was found [that it was] positive of victims’ scent," the military official said. Yap was released by her kidnappers on Sunday morning, April 10. – KBK, GMA News
