No Holy Week vacation for PNoy

While most of the Filipinos will be on vacation during the Holy Week, President Benigno Aquino III will be in his office working. In an interview with reporters in General Santos City on Thursday, Aquino said many of his Cabinet members have asked for a leave during the Holy Week, but he himself will help monitor the availability of public vehicles for the expected exodus to the provinces. “Ako po iyong tutulong, magbabantay na merong sasakyan lahat ng patungo kung saan, kung barko, kung bus o eroplano, manigurado na rin po akong maayos iyong paglalakbay nila pabalik," he said. He said his only vacation would most likely be on Good Friday. “Kung saka-sakaling may bakasyon ako malamang hindi masyadong kumikilos ang Good Friday. So dun po sa Good Friday kalahati po siguro nun akin, iyong iba ho sa bayan ulit." The President was in General Santos City as a keynote speaker at the opening ceremonies of the 23rd National Convention of the Prosecutors’ League of the Philippines. “Maraming nagpaalam na magbabakasyon, sa Cabinet for instance, madadagdagan ako ng mga isang linggo dahil sa kanila at hindi naman tayo makahindi sa kanila dahil talaga namang puspusan sila—talagang buhos ang kakayahan nila at pagod," he said, referring to his Cabinet officials. “So, ang matagal na namng pinag-uusapan kung meron bang bakasyon ang Presidente ang lumalabas ay wala," he added. Aquino also said he would ensure peace and order in the country during the Holy Week. “Siyempre iyong ating katahimikan rin ho gusto nating mapangalagaan akin din pong responsibilidad iyan," he said. - Amita O.
