2 suspected robbers killed in Manila shootout

At least two suspected robbers linked to a series of motorcycle-related robberies in Manila's Sampaloc district were killed in a shootout with police Thursday night. Police said the two tried to shoot it out with them after being entrapped, radio dzBB's Rodil Vega reported. One of the suspects was killed on the spot while another was declared dead on arrival at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center. The police did not immediately identify the two. An initial investigation showed the two held up an undercover police agent at gunpoint along Laong Laan Street and were escaping when police posted near the area tried to stop them. But instead of surrendering, the two allegedly fired at the police, who fired back. Recovered from the scene were two homemade cal-.38 revolvers, a bladed weapon, and 16 shells. — LBG, GMA News
