Door problem disrupts LRT operations anew

A door malfunction disrupted anew on Friday the operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 1, delaying a southbound train in Manila by at least six minutes. LRT Administration spokesman Hernando Cabrera said the incident occurred past 8 a.m. at the southbound part of the LRT-1's Blumentritt station in Manila. "May tren tayo (na) tumirik sa Blumentritt southbound. Ayaw magsara nang maayos ang pintuan (We had a train that stalled at the southbound part of Blumentritt station because the door could not close properly)," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. In such a situation, he said the computer system managing the LRT would not allow the train to leave. He said this forced the LRT station personnel to have passengers get off the affected train. Cabrera said that while the train can be made to move if the safety protocols were disabled, they would have to have the passengers get off. "Papatayin mo lahat na safety protocol pero kung ginawa namin yan di pwede pasakay ng tao (We can bypass the safety protocols to get the train moving but that will mean we have to get the passengers off)," he said. "Humihingi muli kami ng paumanhin (We have to apologize again)," he added. Holy Week schedule Meanwhile, the LRTA bared the schedule of the LRT for the Holy Week. The last LRT-1 train leaves the Baclaran Terminal and Roosevelt Station at 8 p.m. Wednesday. The last LRT-2 train leaves the Santolan and Recto Stations at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Operations will resume at 5 a.m. Easter Monday.--LBG, GMA News>
