DepEd warns schools, teachers vs clearance fees

The Department of Education on Saturday reminded schools and teachers against collecting fees in exchange for students' clearances. DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro issued the reminder as graduates start getting their clearances for enrollment in the next year-level, or for application in college. "Sec. Luistro reminds all schools (and) teachers not to collect any fees (or) materials for release of students clearance," the DepEd said in its Twitter account. After graduation this month, students are expected to spend the next weeks enrolling at the next level, or applying for college. Earlier, Luistro had stressed non-payment of financial contributions for schools shall not be a basis for non-admission or non-issuance of clearances to the child by the school. “No teacher or any school personnel shall be involved in such collection activities," he said earlier. — LBG, GMA News
