Police take Pilar Pilapil's statement over stabbing incident

Police investigators on Saturday began interviewing veteran actress Pilar Pilapil to get leads on who attacked her last Thursday night. In a report on GMA News TV's "Balitanghali," police investigators from a task group formed to probe the assault on Pilapil were taking a statement from her as of noon. The task group includes members of the Philippine National Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Highway Patrol Group and Crime Laboratory, and the Marikina and Antipolo City police. The report said that at least three possible motives are being considered behind the attack on Pilapil: robbery, kidnapping, or carjacking. According to the report, Vice President Jejomar Binay visited Pilapil, but there were no immediate details on what the two talked about.
Pilapil, 60, was rushed to the hospital Thursday night after she was stabbed by unidentified men in Marikina City. Initial investigation showed that she was with a female companion named Rosalie Jakosalem Peñas when two armed men forcibly boarded their gold Kia car at the Marikina Riverbanks area at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday. The report said Pilapil bore multiple stab wounds and was left behind by the carjackers in a grassy portion of Piedra Blanca Homes in Brgy. San Luis in Antipolo City. Pilapil's companion, Rossalem, was taken by the suspects in the carjacked vehicle, according to the police, who are still looking for her. — JE, GMA News
