Playing dead, quick medical aid saved Pilar Pilapil’s life

Veteran actress Pilar Pilapil suffered a life-threatening injury when she was assaulted in eastern Metro Manila on Thursday last week. However, Pilapil's brother Leo said the presence of mind of his sister, who played dead and sought immediate medical help, saved her. Tadio dzBB’s Manny Vargas quoted Pilapil’s attending physician Dr. Raymond Resurreccion as saying the actress was stabbed in the face, neck, and arms. She was also stabbed in the armpit and the bladed weapon hit her left lung which partially collapsed. The physician noted that Pilapil was coherent when she was rushed to the hospital. Leo said Pilar’s niece was driving the car when they were assaulted. He said the car was moving slowly and the doors were unlocked when the attackers forcibly boarded the vehicle. After being stabbed the actress played dead so the attackers left her in a grassy portion of Piedra Blanca Homes in Brgy. San Luis, Antipolo City, the report said. After being brought to the hospital for medical treatment, the police took Pilapil's statement on the stabbing incident. According to the police report, the initial investigation showed that Pilapil was with her niece Rosalie Jakosalem Peñas when two armed men forcibly boarded their gold Kia car at the Marikina Riverbanks area at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday. The report said Pilapil bore multiple stab wounds and was left behind by the assailants in a grassy portion in Antipolo City.
