PHL Embassy in Bahrain's Consular unit remains open during Holy Week


Filipinos in tension-plagued Bahrain can still avail of consular services from Holy Thursday to Holy Saturday, April 21 to 23. In an advisory, Philippine Ambassador Corazon Bahjin said the Embassy's Consular Section will remain open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from Holy Thursday to Holy Saturday. "Please be informed that the Consular Section of the Embassy will (be) open from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on 21-23 April 2011 (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Black Saturday) to provide consular services to the public," the advisory said. Earlier, the Embassy announced that it will be closed to the public from April 21 to 23. In a notice posted on its website, the Embassy said it will resume office on Easter Sunday, April 24. April 21 and 22, Holy Thursday and Good Friday, are considered regular holidays in the Philippines for 2011, by virtue of Proclamation 84. April 23, Holy Saturday, was also declared a non-working holiday in the Philippines.
